You will be too. Porch Swing Construction Lumber is air dried to a precise 12% moister content. All lumber is prime exterior oak, hand selected and air dried to a precise 12% moister content. Some of our oak takes up to a year to air dry, just the way Doug Mrock wants. Doug personally oversees the air dry process. Once dry, the lumber is planned and sawn to precise standards. Step 1 Doug Mrock's Oak Porch Swings all begin with hand cut, pure oak frames. Notice the double thick, double wide main supports that secure to the seat and back supports. Many others do not use this feature. Without main supports, others attach the chains to the seat and back, which can cause the swing to twist and eventually cause screws to loosen. Our main supports provide extra durability and make your porch swing last longer. Step 2 Each oak slat is custom cut for each swing to ensure a precise fit. Each slat edge is rounded for your comfort. The slats are spaced uniformly allowing air to circulate within the slats and inhibit moisture from accumulating on the wood. Countersunk pilot holes are hand drilled. Notice that both the seat and back are contoured, not just the seat. This provides added comfort. Also, half lap joints and a carriage bolts secure the back supports to the seat supports for the firmest of construction. Step 3 With each custom 3/4 oak slat in place, zinc plated wood screws attach each and every slat to each seat or back supports. No nails, brads, or staples are ever used. Hardwood plugs are inserted by hand to fill each hole. Step 4 Once all holes have been filled, each plug is hand sanded to give a smooth finish. The distinctive and unique rounded front plate and top cap are attached and the whole swing is sanded by hand. Step 5 The final step in the construction process is to attack the custom fit arms rest. Each arm supports is customs cut and fit to each swing. They are then attached to the back and seat supports with counter sunk, zinc plated, wood screws. Step 6 The finished swing is now inspected by Doug and his stamp of approval is burned into the back of the swing. Two coats of linseed oil are applied to seal and finish the swing. The swing is then partially disassembled for shipment to you. Reassembly is easy and quick, just tighten the 6 carriage bolt nuts and the 6 screws that attach the arm to the swing and it's ready to hang. Visa and MasterCard accepted
