Frequently Asked Questions

Question
Why oak and not cedar or pine?
Answer
Oak is the best material for a piece of furniture such as a porch swing. It is both strong and beautiful. With proper treatment oak will last a long time; railroad ties are a good example. Cedar, treated pine, even teak will turn gray over time. Oak when treated with Wolman F&P maintains its golden brown color.

Question
Can I return it if I`m not satisfied?
Answer
Yes, if you're not satisfied with your swing return it for full credit .

Question
Do you guarantee your swings?
Answer
Yes, we guarantee them 100%! If at any time you have any breakage I will send you a part to replace it, or if its beyond your repair return it to me & I will repair it for you, of course this applies to swings that haven't been misused or abused.

Question
I have seen another swing where there isn't any space between the slats , can you provide this?
Answer
Yes, but I don't recommend that style. If you don't leave space for water to drain, the slats are subject to rot caused by rain that just sits there with no place to go.

Question
Can I sit my swing under a tree or an "A" frame & will it still last as long as a covered swing?
Answer
Yes, you can. Wolman F&P with its UV and mildew protection seals your swing against the elements. I do, however recommend cleaning the swing a little more often. Birds will light on the tree limb or frame member above your swing and can harm the finish on your swing as much as the paint on your car.

Question
What is the big difference between varnish or polyurethane and linseed oil?
Answer
Any transparent finish (varnish ,poly) just puts a finish on the surface. Ultraviolet rays from the sun will penetrate this finish and break down the wood fibers causing the finish to crack. These cracks allow moisture in causing mildew & weakening of the wood. Wolman F&P is an oil finish that soaks into the wood and sheds water like a duck. It also has a UV protector and mildew inhibitor for long lasting protection.

Question
What hardware is supplied?
Answer
The eye lag screws & the hooks for the arms are included with the purchase of your swing. You may chose to complete your order with a set of Swing Mate TM swing springs or a chain kit. The springs give your swing a smooth glide. Our chain kits are available for 8 or 10 foot ceilings.

Question
What are the dimensions for the seat depth & the back height?
Answer
Both are the same, the depth is 19" & height is 19".  These are about the same as a dining room chair.
